The dmfs index expresses the number of affected surfaces in primary dentition (five per posterior tooth and four per anterior tooth), with a score range of 0 to 88 surfaces. The DMFT index is one of the simplest and most commonly used indices in epidemiologic surveys of dental caries. It quantifies dental health status based on the number of carious, missing and filled teeth. The index, however, does not provide an accurate description of previous dental care.
We used data of dental caries, expressed by the DMFT index at 12 years-old. These data were provided by WHO Oral Health Country / Area Profile Programme (CAPP). The "CAPP" was established at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Education, Training and Research at the Faculty of Odontology, Malmö, Sweden, in 1995.

Comparison of dental caries (DMFT and DMFS indices) between asthmatic patients and control group in Iran: a meta-analysis Nadia Elyassi Gorji1, Pegah Nasiri1, Ali Malekzadeh Shafaroudi1 and Mahmood Moosazadeh2,3* Abstract Background: The association between caries index, which is diagnosed by Decayed, Missing, and Filled Teeth For more than 80 years, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OCED) has been keeping stats on healthy primary teeth around the world. The purpose of this effort is to determine which countries are succeeding in promoting oral care so others can follow their lead. To do this, they came up with the DMFT Index, which stands for Decayed, Missing and Filled Teeth. The index Dental caries indices for primary and permanent dentition (dmft/DMFT) were measured by clinical examinations inside the schools. The examinations were based on the standardized international criteria proposed by WHO for oral health surveys using WHO probe, disposable mouth mirrors and gauze pads [ 3 ].
Those teeth coded 6, 7, 8, 9, or T are not included in DMFT calculations. Decayed, missing (from tooth decay), filled surfaces (dmfs) describes each tooth surface with fillings. Decayed, missing (from tooth decay), filled teeth (dmft) describes if any filling is present or not. Dmfs and dmft are used for permanent teeth. Decayed, extracted (because of tooth decay), filled teeth (deft) is used for primary (baby) teeth.

2). The deft/DMFT Index is a general indicator of dental health status of the population (particularly among children), and is considered reliable. DMFT refers to permanent teeth: D = Decayed, M = Missing due to caries (not from trauma, orthodontic extraction, congenitally missing, etc.), F = Filled, T = Teeth. For more than 80 years, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OCED) has been keeping stats on healthy primary teeth around the world.

The Decayed, Missing, and Filled Teeth (DMFT) index has been used since the 1930s 27 and today is the predominant population-based measure of caries experience worldwide. This index gives the sum of an individual's decayed, missing, and filled permanent teeth or surfaces (DMFS).
The index includes an individual's number of decayed, missing and filled permanent teeth to quantify his amount of dental decay. dmft 12-year-olds; dmft all ages; percent edentulous; annual oral cancer incidence rates per site per 100.000; sugar consumption; oral health manpower; number of specialists; education of dental manpower; special projects of interest The earliest study was published in 1991 and the most recent was published in 2011.
